Garden substructure , Propagation
After finish the basicframe , the local DIY department store ( B&Q ) was my next port of call .
I ’ve used a sheet of 18 mm MDF board ( £ 19 for 8’x4′ ) for the alkali which was swerve to size for me in the shop class . I love that cutting table service , I ’ve always need to have a go at the big saw rig . Sigh . Anyway , I drill and screwed the stem onto the underside of the side rail , using stack of jailor . Wet grit is pretty heavy so I added some spare brace underneath the base , running diagonally from the corner leg to the key legs and square across the centre . I desire that ’s enough … !

I made the bottom shelf mostly from bits of batten from the rase staging ( £ 0 ) but I needed a few more ( £ 10 ) .
Since I ’ll be hot up the terrace I desire to ensure the heat go where it is needed , into the Baroness Dudevant and more significantly the industrial plant , not down into the base . I had a brainstorm and asked my local constructor if he had any offcuts of Celetex , excellent insulation and just the job . Not only did he he have some strike hard about but he also drop them off to the firm ( £ 0 ! ) , lay aside me a few British pound sterling . Thanks Mick ! I ’ve cut it to size and jammed it in , nice and cozy .
As the bed will get a lot of watering , it require to be lined to prevent the wood from sound soggy and quickly rotting in the humidity . I ’ve cut to size a canvas of damp proof membrane ( £ 20 for 4mx3 K in B&Q ) , a pond line drive would exploit too . I have used a twofold level of DPM to be on the secure side , this should be decent and watertight .

MDF base secured to box frame
Annoyingly , I move out of time again , will have to complete it next weekend . Just the sand and the cover to add now really .
Getting raring now , I ’m in a slipstream against time as I am expecting a delivery of seeds in the next week or two .
I ’ll be back with the net ( I desire … ) installment next week .

Extra bracing for the base.
