My friend and I were outside get the chicken free - range inwinter . We have 16 chickens , all hens : Zoe , Doodle , Buttercup , Kiwi , Mary , Goldilocks , Hotwings , Pepper , Penny , Chloe , Gracie , Peanut , Thalia , Eggy , Chai and Daisy . I reckon out , and she was pointing at some chickens that were operate into the neighbour ’s railway yard . They have a lilliputian pond , and once the chickens chance upon it , a few adventurous ones always make a break for it for a quick drinking .

A line of pine Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree separates our yard and our neighbour ’s M , so the chickens can get through but we ca n’t . While my ally was getting the rest of the chickens back into the coop , I tried to encounter a way to get through to the neighbour ’s yard .
There was a short gap between the Tree that I could fit through . But a few limb stood in the elbow room .

Chicken Catching
I made it into my neighbor ’s yard to witness three chicken leave : Zoe , Buttercup and Hotwings . They were walk on the frozen - over pond . The ice was solid enough to keep me , so I walked out to one of the poulet . She started running away , so I instinctively run after her .
A few seconds later , she surrendered . I was able to carry her back to the coop .
When I come back , my booster was now fend in the middle of the frozen pond with a crybaby in her manpower . I was surprised because she was usually afraid to hold them . I told her to carry her back to the chicken coop . As she was passing through the Tree , though , the volaille jumped out of her hands .
She kind of just chased it back to the coop from there .
The last chicken was a major challenge . I had tochase her a bite before my booster came back . Ittook a long time of the chicken pass away between me and my booster . Eventually , I receive a cargo deck on her , and she give up . Then , I carried her back .
From that day on , we give the crybaby a tray of water when loose - place even in winter to keep them from racing to the pool because drink water from anywhere but their henhouse can be very exciting ! — mud Little ( Antioch , Illinois )
