Here’s a great way to organize your seed packets by the month. It’s a great improvement over the “shoebox” method.
Up until now , I was using the “ shoebox ” approaching to seed packet storage and organization . The shoebox method acting continue all of your packets together in one place , but get from a major flaw(Photo A ) . It does n’t aid you when you ’re trying to contrive – not only what to plant when – but also if you have all that you need . Would n’t it be nifty if you could see a “ snapshot ” of the yr , and mastermind your seeded player packets based on when you ’re take them ?
This design ’s measurements will succumb a loge that is 18.5″ wide by 14″ deep by 3.5″ gamey . The 12 compartments measure about 4 3/16″ wide by 4 3/8″ deep . This is of course a “ custom ” design . You may necessitate a larger or smaller size of it base on your penury .
A couple of disavowal to get out of the direction . First , I will apologize for the inconsistent kindling in the pic . Second , the foamboard I used had an adhesive side on it . This was the only type that was available at the sentence . I would recommend get the kind that did n’t have an adhesive side to it .

The list of thing you ’ll ask :
• Two Sheets – 20″ x 30″ x 3/16″ foamboard / foamcore
• ten - Acto type cutting knife

• Pencil or playpen
• rule / straight edge ( preferably metallic element )
• Various sizes from your existing seed package

• Cutting add-in
• Craft glue ( any character that will work on paper product )
• Needles or stitching personal identification number

• Pliers
• Paint ( if you like to paint it )
• Colored Crescent artistic creation board ( optional )

• Labels ( made from your personal computer or a label printer )
Skill Level :
Intermediate to unmanageable , depending on your slyness and newspaper clipping skills .

building :
1 . Measure and mark the lines for the compartments and trim on the foamboard in pencil ( mention : I marked mine in ink to be seen intimately in the photo)(Photo B ) .
2 . Cut out the base .

3 . If potential , pin down the base to your cut board or open . It is crucial that the card not move for the next step .
4 . Cut the four outside bound piece . use a beadwork of mucilage on the sharpness firearm where it will meet the base .
5 . Hold in place until the glue has dry out enough to provide some support(Photo C ) . Here ’s precious trick # 1 : If you burn a small square musical composition of foamboard and rest it next to the side piece of music , then pin it to the side piece , it will help support it at the right slant .

6 . The trick in step # 5 is only a temporary step . Once all four sides are seize to the base you’re able to paste them and secure them with pins(Photo D ) . At this stage you ’ve got the base and the side done . It ’s start to count like a seed box … sweet!(Photo E )
7 . Now it ’s clip to cut the inside “ vertical ” cross pieces . quantify the space from the inside of the box ( very important ) , as well as the height .
8 . Draw those measurements on the foamboard three times and cut the pieces out(Photo F ) .

A agile tip on cutting the foamboard . It ’s kinda like cutting field glass in that the first “ cut ” is only to score it . The score must be utterly correct because the following cut use it as a scout . ask to make several smaller cuts for remove the art object . Only use new blade if possible .
9 . Place the perpendicular pieces you just turn out inside the box and position them using the tune guides you drew on the base(Photo G ) . Make mark on the vertical slice . These will be the “ notches ” that secure the erect and horizontal part together(Photo H ) .
10 . Repeat Steps 7 , 8 & 9 – this meter it will be for the two “ horizontal ” pieces .

11 . Glue the vertical pieces into the corner and hold in place until the mucilage has part dried and is holding the patch in place on it ’s own .
12 . Repeat for the horizontal piece . I would recommend enforce a 2d bead of glue on all of the edge that were glue together .
At this item , your come box is basically finished(Photo I ) . All it needs now is a pelage of paint and labels for the month .

13 . I would urge a flat or mat model or foxiness paint or menage latex rouge . I do not commend spray paint it ( I started to do this and almost ruined it ) . I used an off - blank latex paint because it was heavyset . So choose your colour , paint by and allow it to to the full dry .
14 . Using a recording label printer or typeset it on your PC , make the recording label for the months(Photo K ) . I used a Brother P - trace label maker that worked great for this .
Voila ! Your semen box is quick for dynamic duty(Photo L ) . Now all you have to do is organise your mail boat in it . Sounds like a lazy Sunday afternoon activity with snacks and your favorite potable .
