“ Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life ”
The barn is still my favorite project of all time
The oft - repeated quote in the first place impute to Confucius is one of my all - metre favorites – for no other ground than it withstand so much trueness .

The barn is still my favorite project of all time
It was that very topic of “ doing what we love ” that the was the focus of our conversation last week with Anna Rumer – a newsperson for the Zanesville Time Recorder in Zanesville , Ohio . Anna had contacted us about writing a local piece on our farm and web site after learn about OWG through a national feature article on the Hometalk site . you could see both stories here : Zanesville Time Recorder ’s narration “ Local Farm Teaches Sustainability and Simplicity With Blog”andHometalk ’s Behind The Screen – The Old World Garden Farm Story
In short – she want to know how we found sentence to do it , and why . The dewy-eyed answer of course was the same one we have repeated since starting this project : “ You make and find metre for what you have a go at it to do ” .
You make time for what you love- and we both love home - acquire food !

You make time for what you love- and we both love home-grown food!
I can honestly say that I do n’t think either of us have ever consider build the farm “ work ” . In fact , when we look back at probably our three biggest project at the farm – the construction of the barn , the Gallus gallus coop and the background up of our garden – it was all about doing what we love to do .

We had fun during every one of those project – and always looked forward to what would come next – and still do .

Learning to laugh at yourself is a must – like the colossal failure of my attempt to build a silo – it looked really cool for awhile! 🙂

OK , so yes , there were nighttime of rawness , quite a few modest injury , blister and the unfitness to figure out which brawn you had really strained – but again – it ’s not operate when you are having fun and doing what you love .
The cay is when you are “ solve ” at something you love – you are too engaged take fun to opine about it as employment . And when you add in two concluding key component – the ability to never take yourselves too seriously , and the ability to admit arrange - backs and little failures as part of the experience – then no matter what – it all becomes good .

We do n’t expect our undertaking , our garden , or life to be perfect 100 percent of the clip . The garden will have times when it certainly does n’t look “ perfect ” . Crops will fail – weed will develop , volaille will escape , power shovel will come apart and trees will sometimes pall . We have passel of failures and even more “ we can do better next old age ” .

So , at the end of the twenty-four hour period – we always know three things that keep the grinning and laugh going through anything : that we be intimate what we do , we are going to keep it fun , and we will never stop work at the dream . The best part of it all – no matter what your aspiration – it works ! Here is to unsubdivided , happy living !
