These snails have been farmed specifically for escargot .
A brace of time , back when I was in college , my friends and I collected a big mass of rough-cut browngarden snails , give them into an empty , plastic garbage can with a head of shreddedlettuce , kept them in the garbage can for about a day and a one-half , and then take all of the snails out and boiled them . Once we boiled them , we pulled the snails out of the eggshell with a toothpick , cut off the funky dark piece , and then put them all in a het pan with butter andgarlic . Then we pick up the plate and re - gourmandize the snails back into the shells . Served with a bit of finely chopped Petroselinum crispum and some flabby Gallic bread to dip in the garlic - butter sauce , and red wine to dampen it all down , the snails were pleasant-tasting .

To all the small farmers out there , I ’ll suggest that escargot are strong products with a reasonably uncomplicated yield process , and a future that will undoubtedly see a continual rise in their expenditure .
I will admit that I am sort of a escargot “ racist . ” I do n’t mean that we should be capturing wild sea snails to eat , but I do intend garden escargot , and school specialism escargot snail eccentric , both devil dog and land - ground , are some of the most appropriate crops that we as humans should be eating . Today ’s photo show a bag of marine snails , one of the harvested wild craw of which I am virtuously mistrustful .
