“ The adult reason that we desire to start farming was to become ego sustain , ” says Jessica Lubic , who presides over the fellowship - basedWild Rose Farmin Eatonville , Washington . “ We did n’t want to have to rely on anyone or anything but ourselves . ”
After longsighted harboring dreams of running a farm since she was a unseasoned fry , Lubic and her phratry eventually founded Wild Rose Farm . These days , visitant to the speculation encounter a kindred of goats running free across the property , ably endorse by chickens , ducks and a resident turkey call Tom .

When Lubic first impress into her farm property , she was faced with acres of blackberry bush bushes and weeds that want remove .
The answer ? Send in the butt .

“ They were actually our first purchase when we move here , as far as animals go , ” she recalls . “ We had buy a tractor . But , while we were at work or what not , we lie with the goats were clearing ample distance we would require to make a grazing land for livestock . ”
Since completing their initiatory task , the Capricorn now help to provide milk , cheese , butter and soap .

Goats or Dogs?
“ Goats are the frankfurter of the stock universe ! ” say Lubic . “ They each have their own personality and are obstinate . No matter how fully grown an area you give them or how much forage , they will try your fence everyday ! ”
Get to Know Buttercup
Buttercup is one of the key goats lodge in at Wild Rose Farm .
“ When we got her , she was in reality pregnant . Her personality was so different , ” says Lubic . “ She was sweet , gentle and well-disposed . Now , after being a mother , she is a bunch more independent and has a sense of confidence that has do to her . ”
Summing up the change in Buttercup ’s personality , Lubic adds : “ She is still very sweet to me but weary of others . possibly that ’s just the overprotective female parent in her ! ”

The Value of Knowing Where Your Food Comes From
Lubic order that the most fulfilling part about running a kinsfolk - centric farm is “ knowing where our food occur from . ”
Building on the sentiment , she adds that she also takes pleasure from recognise “ that my kids get to see how our food is made and get the experience many do n’t get anymore . ”
