My friends Kim and Bill showed me how to make recycle theme fire bricks last week and graciously allowed me to take their process ( though they did n’t want to be on film themselves ) .
These report flame bricks they ’re construct are n’t the “ fire bricks ” used in creating a baking oven or chimney – they ’re really just compressed paper “ wood ” for burning . Like composition logs .
you could make newspaper publisher firebricks from just about any scrap newspaper publisher . Kim and Bill do n’t habituate any lustrous paper in their paper fire bricks so they can afterwards add the ashes to their gardens .
Making Recycled Paper Fire Bricks
First , get yourself a mountain of fighting report . newspaper , paper crustal plate , napkins , cardboard , rip up report from the office , $ 100 bills … whatever .
Then , take those and soak them in a pail of water until they ’re saturate . Bill and Kim advocate allow them sit for quite a while – even a few days – so the fibre can break down .
Once you have them all nice and soppy , rip up them up with something . They expend an edger blade attach to a drill . An industrial liquidiser would likely work well , too .
These paper fire bricks look very much like something I want to eat. Hard. To. Resist.
Now it ’s metre to adjure your composition fire bricks . Any kind of multi - holed receptacle with a follower will work – Bill and Kim used a 2d bucket with lots of midget holes drilled in it .
confuse in a good fortune of shredded paper . Then press hard and get that piss out as much as possible , then put the brick somewhere to dry .
These paper fervency brick look very much like something I want to eat . heavily . To . defy .
Once dry out , they ’re ready for use … then the ashes can be used to summate calcium and alkalinity to the garden .
Consider it another shape ofcomposting .
Though I ’ve yet to be convinced of the input of labor to output of fuel efficiency of this project , I greatly admire the ingenuity and the fact that paper is being keep out of the landfill .
wintertime is on the way , so it ’s a great clip to try out with possible fuel sources .
