Back in September , I found outI was pick out as a finalistamong 700 submissions that Country Living received . That in itself was an honor , but since my web log was just a few day shy of being one year honest-to-goodness at the time , I did n’t desire to get my promise uptoohigh about acquire and file it away under my “ Would n’t that be bully someday ? ” list .

Sweet welcome gift from Country Living

Fast forward a few weeks subsequently , whenI was on the tail end of my Europe tripand had almost forgotten about the award , I open my electronic mail to see Country Living congratulating me on my win ! It was very exciting to come home to . I ’ve been sit on this news program for over a calendar month until the cartridge made its official announcement last Thursday , and I ’m ecstatic to ultimately share it with all of you !

The winning blogger from all seven categories were fly to New York last workweek for an awards ceremonial .

Upon my arrival , I was treated to a sweet welcome gift at the hotel from Christine Rannazzisi - Gerstein , associate publisher of Country Living , who conceived of the awards . Those cupcakes made a sleepless , up - before - the - sun , grouchy - country flying much easy to bear !

Hearst Tower

The next day , I made my agency to the magazine publisher ’s military headquarters at the reasonably newfangled Hearst Tower . Interestingly , it was the first skyscraper project to break solid ground post-9/11 , and the first green highrise ever completed in New York City , becoming the urban center ’s first LEED Gold - attest skyscraper in 2006 . The first six floor are the original cast Lucy Stone facade commissioned by Randolph Hearst and built in 1928 . The upper 40 floor , made of structural blade and glass , were contribute most 80 years later on to add all the Hearst publications under one ceiling .

The awards ceremony and luncheon were held on the forty-fourth floor , which had views for days over Central Park and the Manhattan apparent horizon .
