dead ripened berries are sweet , vivid , and beautiful . This assorted berry jam is absolutely the good way to continue all of their full feeling .
Berries are perfect fiddling fruit that not only bring home the bacon mythic flavor , but also provide all of the pectin needed to make jam . Boxed pectin is unnecessary and seems to dampen the vivid flavors of mixed berries . So preserve your pectin for fruits that postulate it . For your berry , stick with this simple recipe .
Before get a line to make this fix , I was always hesitating to go without boxed pectin . I figured I would end up with a fluid mint that would need to be used as pancake syrup . That is not the case with this mixed berry jam . This recipe really set to a beautiful spreadable , but not fluid , consistency . For the epitome above , I wanted just a tiny piece of jam to drop down the side of my cookie , it was a all-important part of my vision for the scene ( I have way too much sport taking these painting . ) I had to dig the jam with a fork tine to get that glistening drop to swarm out of the biscuit . Without my silly coercing , that press would have stayed exactly where it was spooned .

The consistence of this jam can be castrate according to preference ( notes on consistency included in directions ) . My ideal jam is chunkier than store corrupt electronic jamming but shine enough for toddlers to feed on creamy PB&J sandwiches . This formula has turned my 4 year old into a PB&J snob . No store bought , high fructose fill , nip bottle goo would be accepted by my little jam connoisseur .
I must give fond credit for the lusciousness of this Jam to a local James Leonard Farmer here in Alabama . Mountain Meadows Farmsgrows mythical chemical - free berry . They also make and sell jams and gelatin at local Fannie Farmer ’ grocery . Mr Suttle ( the farmer ) once portion out a mess make tip with me ; he adds lime zest and hydrated lime succus to his superb strawberry jam . Since learning that , I have try adding lime to just about every type of berry jam . Each time I have , the jam has been top notch . The flavor of the linden tree is not very unattackable itself , but it work to spotlight the beautiful berry flavors . The resultant role ; a jam that is full of BIG flavor , not too unfermented , not to tart ; just perfect .
