Today ’s photos are from Linda Purrazzella in Southampton , New York . She says,“My father , Giuseppe , has always been the nurseryman in the family … not a green thumb but a golden one . Whatever he adjoin always grew , be it flowers or veggie , whereas I struggled with keeping a cactus live . A Sicilian immigrant , my dad was always connected to the realm – his garden was his refuge . I chose , alternatively , an esthetic track . For me , creating object and making art has been my passion .
“ The last few eld , though , my father ’s abilities to garden have been lessen – he ’s turning 90 year honest-to-god this June . As a way to connect to my father in his later years and keep him in the garden he loves so much , I decided to attempt to help , to be his hands and brute force when involve so that he could continue to take joy in gardening . While he always had a operable approach to his vegetable garden , my patience and passion has turned to making his vegetable garden not only fruitful but also beautiful .
“ So under my dad ’s direction , I began to learn his secrets and I found out that gardening is about create something beautiful , just with a different metier . Still employing the elements of art I learned through my art – contour , line , grain , and contrast , my male parent ’s garden began a journey of sharing and discovery , blending both of our passion .

“ As an artist I always admired the walkways of European garden and the sweetheart in combining the hardscape of the Isidor Feinstein Stone with the softness of flowers and foliage . So this retiring summer I designed a plan for our veggie garden ’s walk comprise Oliver Stone mosaic . The first stone is dispatch and with each year a new stone will be added . For now , I have bluestone in their place . The theme of the itinerary is the “ Vine ” , inspiredby the shapes make by the overlapping and intertwining of vegetable and flower vines .
“ In another space along a walkway , “ Fishes in the Currents ” was created as homage to the ocean , since we live in Southampton , New York , and my father ’s other passion is fish . Placed in the front of the house , it is surrounded by plants that , as the outpouring and summer come , originate up and envelope the arial mosaic , creating a direct contrast once again of texture and color .
I am now completely taken with wait for the garden season to start . My 2nd pit for the path will start before long , just in time to take the air upon it as we garden together again , sharing our memories and transferring knowledge gained through the generations . ”

What awing gifts you ’re hand each other , Linda . Thanks so much for sharing your story .
