For whatever may be the genuine consideration that incur , they will but attend to to heighten the demarcation between the material and the insubstantial and render anticipation still more delicious .
The gardener has an vantage over many practical prole , if he is an enthusiast , in that the pleasant dark of the future hovers always over the present , the glamour of the unseen veil with a rosiness - colour cloak the trials and difficulty of the moment . Everyone must have matte pride in home plate - raised press cutting or seedlings ; and what is pride but the outcome of passion , fond and literal ?
Only , as a female parent with her tiddler , does the nurseryman come to know and to be intimate his plants and flowers when , from implant to blossoming , he and he alone has tended them . The longer he garden the greater will be his love for the flowers he grows . Let us , then , establish our own rose and for a meter backsliding into the prosaic and practical , for in flora develop , full flower peach waits only on those who till the dirt .
