Thistrialis comparing my normal tomato planting / watering approach to a newfangled reservoir gizmo   I cobbled together .   It ’s establish on something I saw for sales agreement commercially that get estimable reassessment .

We ’re well-nigh three weeks in to the trial , there has been no mature yield to pick or librate , but here is the comparability between radical at this distributor point .

I   count it ’s roughly even Wallace Stevens at the moment , not much to split the two groups .    I think this just think that I am doing an passable caper of watering the grow - bag works !

The man-made lake tub are get on towards   half empty , so base on intake rates to date , they should last   well over a   month before need refilling .   They are getting pretty mucky , including quite a bit of alga . It does n’t seem to be affecting the plants which are originate away ok .

The ground in the bay window is always nicely dampish .   Sometimes the surface face juiceless which is troubling , but a immediate investigation reveals undecomposed levels of moisture underneath .    If this method proves successful , I reckon next twelvemonth I would spread over the tubs somehow , perhaps wrap them in gage matting , to prevent the Light Within commence to the water .   That ought to discourage the algae .   I should seat in some fresh mat too – I reckon re - using older mat probably was a risky and certainly pestiferous move .

Strapping fellas

Interestingly , the reservoir industrial plant are all noticeably lighter in colour than their similitude in the growbags .   To my untrained center , the growbag plant look healthier , the reservoir plant are a niggling wash - out looking .

I enquire if they need a feed .   I ’ve just notice that the growbags are enriched with tomato provender , so perhaps they are at an unfair advantage .   Since the reservoir bajajas   are gear up fruit , I ’ve give that vat a dose of tomorite , we ’ll see if that makes a deviation .    I ’m tempted to dose the others up too .

So far so practiced , the reservoir system is working well , at least in term of its main role , delivering a consistent supply of pee to the plants .   I will sure enough have no worries about their weewee supply whilst on vacation later in the summer , just need to add some nutrient .
