scarab beetle larvae
This prison term of class when you are adding amendment and turn your soil , you may notice some white fatness grubs with brown heads . I noticed they were in dirt that I intemperately amended with buck manure and would freak out out when I saw them . I took all of them ( sometimes a mickle ) and give them to the chickens . I use to think were cutworms but they are not .
They are Scarab beetle larvae and will NOT harm your vegetable plants or vegetable roots . They are also known as the ‘ dung beetle ’ larva . In fact they are beneficial because they help break down the manure by eating it , hence you will incur them where you apply manure . Just leave them alone as they are kind of like worms , adding food to the soil as they process the manure . I have never seen any damage to veggie but if they are in your lawn ( what lawn ? ! LOL ) they will exhaust grass - root ( but not vegetable roots ) .

On the other hand , here is a picture of cutworms which are HARMFUL to your plant . They hail out of the ground at night and masticate the base of your graft stem off leaving you with a beheaded plant ( so to verbalise ) . They attack infant plant life stem because they are tender . After the plants get elderly , they do n’t bother them . If you see these , get rid of them . I look for them in the soil around the fix I get the picture just before I put my transplants in the ground . But there is something else you’re able to do to protect your plants .
you’re able to protect your flora by putting a ‘ cutworm arrest ’ around your newly planted transplants . I utilize a paper towel roll or toilet paper row edit into 2 inch increments . I sheer the tube lengthwise to get them around the flora theme and record the cut furrow .

Then I sink the tube about 1 inch into the soil . They wo n’t crawl up the tube . After your plant get a little older , take the pipe off - they only like new bow . In this video the arrest is filled with filth but I just leave the taking into custody on without filling it with dirt .
